Open Mind

You may constantly tell people to just talk to you, not assume, be open, but do you show them that you're ready for that? Just because you say you'd rather someone come talk to you about how they feel doesn't mean you're making them feel welcome enough to do so. So if you're wondering why a certain person refuses to come talk to you first, maybe it's because they feel they can't. You can't want someone to come to you when you get mad or refuse to hear them out when they do. You have to have an open mind and want to listen. It already probably takes a lot for someone to build up the courage to be able to tell you exactly how they feel and what it is, so you should be mature enough to respect what they're doing. Not listening, brushing them off, making it smaller than how big they feel it is, that's disrespectful. If you simply come to every situation with an open mind, you'll be able to actually listen, not just hear, and receive what they're telling you.
